Child Safeguarding Policy

These services are provided by Hardy Music Productions Limited. As the sole director and practitioner of the Company, the safety and well-being of my students are my highest priorities. I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and professional environment for all children and adults undertaking music tuition.

1. Professional Clearances

I (Matthew Hardy) hold a current, Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate issued in the United Kingdom. I have also completed comprehensive safeguarding training through my previous educational roles in UK schools and hubs.

2. Communication Protocols

  • All digital communication (including emails, WhatsApp messages, and scheduling updates) regarding a student under the age of 18 must be conducted exclusively with the parent or designated guardian.

  • I will not communicate directly with a minor via their personal phone number, email address, or social media accounts.

3. In-Person Lesson Protocols

  • Home Visits: For lessons taking place at a student’s home, a parent, guardian, or designated adult helper (such as a nanny) must be present in the house for the entire duration of the lesson.

  • Studio Lessons: For lessons taking place at my teaching locations, an "open door" or line-of-sight policy will be maintained where appropriate, and parents are always welcome to wait nearby.

4. Online Lesson Protocols

For lessons conducted via Zoom or other video platforms:

  • The student's computer or tablet should ideally be set up in a communal area of the home (such as a living room or study with the door open), rather than a closed bedroom.

  • A parent or guardian should be in the vicinity of the lesson to assist with any technical issues and ensure a productive environment.
